PDEU organised an Inspirational Talk – STUMBLING UPON HAPPINESS by Dr. Manu Melwin Joy on 15th February,2022 at 6:00 PM for its Faculties, Staff, Students and their extended families. Dr. Manu Melwin Joy is a man with multiple degrees and a game-changer in the field of gamification, 33-year-old Manu Melwin Joy's passion for learning and acquiring new knowledge has no bounds. Dr. Manu's tryst with learning newer subjects began when he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2004. A fresh graduate out of Government Engineering College, Thrissur, the treatment forced Manu to take a break from his normal life. As he says "In those two years I did absolutely nothing but read. It was this reading that helped me realise that engineering wasn’t my cup of tea". Over the years, Dr. Melwin has given many Inspirational Talks on Beating the Cancer on various platforms and inspired life of many.

The University held its 9th Covocation on 11th April 2022 on campus. The graduating students were addressed by Honourable Minister Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India and the President of the University. The event was graced by Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel and he gladly conferred the degrees to the graduating students.

9th Covocation

The Annual Social and Cultural Fest ofPDEU&ndash; Flare&rsquo;22 was held from 15th April 2022 to 17th April 2022 on campus. There were events like Model Hunt, Art Workshops, Music Production Workshops, Abstract Make-up Workshop, Western Dance Workshop, Theatre and Acting Workshop, Food Relay, Quiz, Face Painting etc.

The theme of the ceremony for this year was Role of Digitalization in Making the Oil and Gas Industry Sustainable. Prof. S. Sundar Manoharan and Dr. R. K Vij Director-SPT hosted the guest from oil and gas industry. The day long ceremony witnessed five thought provoking technical sessions on the trending &nbsp;oil and gas topics in alignment with new generation requirements, Inquizitte: A nail-biting quiz session with handsome cash prizes, Panel Discussion by industrial professionals on the theme, A valedictory ceremony wherein outgoing committee members were felicitated and new committee for the year 2022-2023 were appointed, Azimuth: IADC PDEU Annual Magazine Launch and a Cultural Evening with Networking Dinner.

This second edition of the symposium &ldquo;Wireless, Antenna and Microwave Symposium (WAMS)&rdquo; will be held at the University during June 07-10, 2023. The symposium will provide an international forum for reporting and sharing recent wireless, antenna, and microwave technologies and applications. WAMS 2023 will consist of workshops, tutorials, plenary lectures, special and poster sessions, technical sessions, and student paper competitions.

The CollabSci: Climate, Sustainability &amp; Energy Symposium was one insightful and engaging event that happened in PDEU on 4th September, 2023 at 10:00 AM. This one-day symposium shed light on the pivotal role of Scientific Collaborations in the realms of Climate change, Sustainable Development, and the Energy sector.&nbsp;
The symposium was divided in two enriching segments. The morning session had three expert lectures, providing insights into the current landscape of Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Energy. and the collaborative efforts required to tackle these global challenges. The Afternoon session featured an exciting poster showcase by the participants.

1st International Symposium on Battery Technology: Recent Advances, and Current and Future Trends

The 11th Convocation of PDEU was held on 2nd December 2023 with great zeal and zest. The chief guest for the Convocation was the Hon'ble Chairman of ISRO, Dr. S. Somnath. Also in attendance were other dignitaries from the academic world, industries and the government apart from Chairman and the Board of Governers.&nbsp;
Dr. Mukesh Ambani, President of PDEU also gave the graduating students a special speech which was telecasted live.&nbsp;
This year a total of 1600+ students graduated, keeping it a grand affair.&nbsp;

11th Convocation of PDEU

The 77th Independence Day of our Nation was celebrated on 15th August 2023 at PDEU campus with much enthusiasm and patriotism among the students, staff and faculty.&nbsp; The Director General hoisted the national flag and after the national anthem was sung, the NCC students started the parade. There was also a cultural showcase of events by students, followed by refreshments for all.

Empowering Cadets: PDEU NCC's World Consumer Rights Day Initiative 15th March, 2024 on World Consumer Rights Day, PDEU's NCC department organized an awareness session, led by Dr. Sandeep Pandya, presently working as a Member (Judge) District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission. Cadets learned about consumer rights, responsibilities, and the importance of fair-trade practices. The session highlighted the role of the National Consumer Portal and Helpline in addressing grievances. International Conference on Energy, Infrastructure and Management 2024 & Doctoral and Early Career Researchers’ Colloquium 2024

On 10th July 2024, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar organized an orientation program for newly admitted B. Tech students within the institute's premises. Over time, the purpose of orientation programs has evolved to include enhanced academic support and resources, aimed at better preparing students. The program was inaugurated with &ldquo;Urja Stuti&rdquo;. Honourable Prof. S. S. Manoharan (Director General of PDEU), Dr. Anirbid Sircar (Director of SoET) and Dr. Dhaval Pujara (Director of SoT) and other dignitaries were present as the chief guest on this occasion.&nbsp;

B. Tech Orientation Program 2024-25

The Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated here at PDEU on 26th July 2024. It started at 4pm with the NCC cadets leading the parade from C block foyer area to the auditorium. The energetic music club of the University - Offbeat - gave a power-packed performance with goosebumps-induced patriotic songs. After the real emotion was instigated, the NCC Cadets presented a documentary about the Kargil War and the unsung heroes of our nation. It left everyone in the audience teary-eyed including the dignitaries.&nbsp; The Veteran distinguished guests were called upon the stage and were duly felicitated in accordance. The dignitaries present were, Col. R. D. Sharma, Col. A Mandal, Commandant Devansh Trivedi, Shri Jagdish Soni and Mr. Ballabh Ramani. Prof. Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, in his opening speech conveyed how emotionally overwhelmed he was at such a patriotic celebration. He conveyed his regards to the brave soldiers and so did the University's Registrar, Col. Dr. Rakesh Shrivastava. Belonging from the defence fraternity, he was overwhelmed at such a celebration at the university and was glad about the willing participation. The esteemed guests too conveyed their utmost happiness for witnessing such a beautiful commemoration of the brave soldiers of Kargil. The event concluded with hi-tea for everyone.

The International conference on Green Hydrogen for global decarbonisation is being organized by Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India and CECA ASIA, Vadodara, India.&nbsp; &nbsp; The Government of India launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2023 with an outlay of `19,744 crore. This mission will lead to significant decarbonization of the economy, reduced dependence on fossil fuel imports, and enable India to assume technology and market leadership in Green Hydrogen. Green Hydrogen possesses immense potential to become a vital component of the energy mix. It is &nbsp;expected to become a $ 12-15 trillion global industry by 2050.&nbsp; This two-day International conference will bring together policymakers, regulators, innovators, oil and gas companies, infrastructure companies, technology providers, industry experts and investors to present their perspectives and provide stimulus in shaping the future of green hydrogen. It will provide a global platform for leading developers to showcase the project's innovations and technologies, explore investor interest in financing their projects.&nbsp;

International Conference on Green Hydrogen 

The Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, in collaboration with Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, hosted the Research &amp; Industry Conclave on Bioenergy on 18th November 2024. The event highlighted the critical role of academia-industry collaboration and innovation in achieving large-scale bioenergy production. Shri Manish Gurwani, IAS, Mission Director of GSBTM, opened the conclave by outlining GSBTM's commitment to fostering cutting-edge technologies and supporting network programs focused on advanced biofuel production. His address was followed by Ms. Mona Khandhar, IAS, Principal Secretary, DST, Government of Gujarat, who underscored the state&rsquo;s dedication to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. She emphasized the pivotal role of bioenergy in reducing carbon emissions to achieve net-zero goals, supported by robust state policies ensuring energy security. Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, Director General of PDEU, spoke about green hydrogen as an emerging frontier in bioenergy. He highlighted PDEU&rsquo;s initiatives in carbon dioxide sequestration, antimicrobial resistance strategies, biofuel production, and advancements in semiconductor and solar PV panel manufacturing. He also commended the DST for its efforts in promoting research in biotechnology, bioengineering, and biomedical devices.

Research & Industry Conclave on Bioenergy Showcases Academia-Industry Synergy

The DST-Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) organized an "Investor Summit-2024" on 1st August 2024 at Pandit Deendayal Energy University. The Investor Summit 2024 aims to bridge the gap between innovative projects and potential investors. This summit will provide students, researchers, and faculty members with a platform to showcase their groundbreaking ideas and projects to a panel of esteemed investors. Mr Yogesh D Brahmankar, Innovation Director, Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Government Of India was the Guest of Honour.

DST TEC Investor Summit 2024

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and IQAC, PDEU jointly will be organizing a 3 Day - Skill Development from 1st to 3rd January 2025, on Micromachining and Vision Inspection. The SDP will be a blend of theory as well practical sessions, which will be followed by hands-on session. The target audience will be research scholars, postgraduate students, and final year undergraduates of PDEU and nearby institutions.

On December 17, 2024, the School of Technology, Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, inaugurated the 39th National Symposium on Plasma Science &amp; Technology 2024 (PLASMA 2024). With over 450 participants, including researchers, academicians, and industry professionals from across India, this prestigious event has brought together some of the brightest minds in the field of Plasma Science.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the eminent Plasma Science experts including Shri K N Vyas, former Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Dr. Shashank Chaturvedi, Director, IPR Gandhinagar.

Dr. Shubha Sinha, Consultant Breast Surgeon at Apollo Cancer Centre, spoke about breast cancer and highlighted the importance of early detection. Along with this, doctors urged women to get screened for cervical and breast cancer once a year. This year, government has allocated Rs. 910 crore in the budget to climate change. Every year, government has increased the budget and scope of work for this department. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the &lsquo;Building a Climate-Resilient Gujarat&rdquo; event at Science City.

We are happy to announce the successful installation of a solar-powered high-recovery (80%) water purification system at Lodhwa village, Junagadh District, Gujarat, showing our commitment to sustainability. This is a true outcome of a Research Project under the India H2O project - supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, and the European Union Commission under the Horizon 2020 scheme. The 20% rejected water from the purification process is now nurturing Salicornia, a plant rich in vital minerals, vitamins (A, B1, B15, C), potassium, calcium, beta-carotene, and iodine. This endeavor provides clean water and contributes to the local ecosystem and nutrition. According to the latest media update by India TV, "Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani, who is also the President of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), addressed the students at the 11th convocation ceremony of the institute and said that energy transition has become the most critical factor in ensuring India&rsquo;s transformation into a global leader in green, sustainable and inclusive development adding PDEU is at the forefront of education and research in this area. Welcoming the chief guest, ISRO Director S Somanath, Mukesh Ambani said, "You are truly an inspiration not just to the students of PDEU, but also to millions of bright young minds across India. ISRO&rsquo;s success with Chandrayan 3 has made every Indian&rsquo;s heart swell with pride. And it has made the world see India as a space superpower. Therefore, there couldn&rsquo;t have been a better person than you to guide and motivate our graduating students as they step into their professional lives."

Soon, visitors to Gandhinagar from Ahmedabad would be able to see solar panels floating on water on both sides of Narmada Canel. The Array of 15 Soalr Panels - likely to be produced in Gujarat will generate 3MW of electricity. The project, which has got in-principle nod from the state government, will be carried out by PDEU and GSECL. 
Prof S Sundar Manoharan, director general of PDEU, on December 2 had said during the university&rsquo;s convocation that it has got in-principle approval forr Rs. 26 Cr. project from GSECL.

As part of India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) on Wednesday received the Semiconductor ATMP Training Facility, which is the first fab or fabrication unit of its kind in Gujarat so far. ATMP stands for assembly, Testing, Marketing, and Packaging of semiconductors.
Experts said it is a joint initiative of PDEU, the department of science and technology of the state government, Micron Technology, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and will provide the required human resources for the upcoming semiconductor plants and design labs in Gujarat.
Prof. S. Sundar Manoharan, Director General of PDEU, said this joint initiative intends to provide industry-focused hands-on training in the semiconductor sector and will train more than 1000 personnel over 5 years.
"These experts will be certified by all the stakeholders under the Skill India Mission," he said.

The facility was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the presence of senior representatives from all stakeholders. Experts from PDEU said the three machines are provided and installed by Micron Technology, which will give training on the entire process from chip dicing to training.

State gets first Semiconductor ATMP Training Facility

Col. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Shrivastav, Registrar - PDEU, was invited to talk on the occasion of National Army Day on DD News Gujarati. He spoke on the how this day, 15th January came to be known as the Indian Army Day and what was the significance of this day back in 1949. He also spoke about his journey in the Indian Army and how he belonged to the army family right from his childhood.

The three day PDEU Youth Parliament 2025, held from Jan 17 - 19, witnessed solid exchange of ideas as young delegates deliberated on national and global issues. The closing ceremony attended by Dr. Ajay Umat, Group Editor, Ahmedabad Mirror and NavGujarat Samay, marked the successful conclusion of the parliament. Earlier, Jamnagar (North) MLA Rivaba Jadeja and Gandhinagar (North) MLA Rita Patel had inspired delegates by their presence.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship &amp; Minister of State, Ministry of Education Shri Jayant Chaudhary launched a Centre of Excellence (CoE) &ndash; jointly set up by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) &ndash; at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.&nbsp;
Shri Jayant Chaudhary further emphasized the need for universities across India to realign with the evolving demands of industry and actively skill students in response. &ldquo;We must empower our universities to become engines of innovation&mdash;not just to serve market needs, but to advance national growth. When universities lead innovation, it is driven by purpose&mdash;for the benefit of society and the nation at large.&rdquo;
The Centre will be equipped with advanced manufacturing capabilities labs to provide specialised training. The centre will offer over 40 online and hybrid courses in sectors such as semiconductors manufacturing, renewable and non-renewables energy, digital edge, smart manufacturing, and more.
A Memorandum of Association (MoA) was signed earlier this month between NSDC and PDEU in this regard. These courses will cater to students from ITI, Diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs. The curriculum is designed to equip learners from Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3 institutes with hands-on experience in niche manufacturing skill sets across critical sectors, including energy, health, water and food.
The partnership between NSDC and PDEU marks a transformative step towards building a future-ready workforce, which is crucial for India&rsquo;s economic growth and technological leadership. It will play a vital role in Make-in-India Readiness movement and accelerate the progress of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
