<h2 align="left">NCC/ NSS</h2>
<h3>Introduction</h3>
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement. It has enormous potential for nation building. The NCC provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of duty, commitment, dedication, discipline and moral values so that they become able leaders and useful citizens. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities with a distinct emphasis on social services, discipline and adventure training. NCC is a voluntary basis activity. The students have no liability for active military service.
PDEU has two sub units of NCC Army wing at present with strength of 50 boy cadets and 50 girl cadets. Boys unit was activated in 2012 under 9 Gujarat Battalion, NCC while the Girls unit in 2014 under 1 Girls Gujarat Battalion, NCC. These cadets are trained in various fields like drill, firing, map reading, weapon training and other subjects. All cadets are expected to attend the camp for which they are detailed. NCC cadets are given refreshment and issued uniforms free-of-cost. At the end of their course, they receive &ldquo;B&rdquo; &amp; &ldquo;C&rdquo; certificates.

<h3>Aims &amp; Objectives of NCC</h3>

<li>To develop character, commandership, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country</li>
<li>To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation</li>

To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces

<li>NCC is a no profit, no loss organization, cadets don&rsquo;t have to spent even a single rupee</li>
<li>The NCC uniform is provided by the University itself</li>
<li>The amount for traveling, bedding, food accommodation traveling allowance is provided by the university</li>
<li>Qualities like social service team spirit, leadership, discipline and self-confidence are developed during NCC training</li>
<li>Provide an opportunity to visit at various historical and industrial places in our country</li>
<li>NCC cadets can get opportunity to do Army/Navy/Air attached camp and get to know about defense forces people life through this</li>
<li>NCC cadets also get an opportunity to do adventure activities like para-gliding, mountaineering, parachute training, sailing etc.</li>
<li>A cadet holding C certificate in B grade gets entitled to apply for direct commission in the defense services</li>
<li>Now a days private companies also give preferences to NCC cadets</li>
<li>Central and state government also give priority in job for NCC cadets</li>
<li>NCC cadets are given priority in recruitment in CRPF and BSF</li>
<li>NCC cadets are given refreshment in every parade and are given washing allowance for uniform</li>
<li>NCC cadets are given facility to purchase goods from military canteen</li>
<li>Various scholarships to those who excel in all activities, ranging from academics to adventure</li>
<li>Opportunity to travel abroad</li>
<li>Preferential advantage in seeking admissions in professional course at all India level</li>

<h4>Annual Training Camp (ATC)</h4>
These are held within the State under the aegis of respective NCC Directorates.
Centrally Organized Camps (COC)
These camps are of an All India basis and are planned by this Head Quarters in consultation with the Directorates nominated to conduct them. Selected cadets, as per the vacancies allotted to each Directorate, participate in these camps.
Leadership Camps
These camps are conducted on All India basis to bring out the leadership qualities in cadets. There are four Advance Leadership Camps (ALC), one each for SD, JD, SD Naval Wing Boys and SW Girls. Three Basic Leadership Camps are held, one each for SD Boys, SW and JW Girls.
<h4>Vayu Sainik Camp</h4>
This Centrally Organized Camp is organized for Air Wing Cadets. 600 cadets (420 boys+180 girls) from all Directorates attend the camp.
Nau Sainik Camp
This is held every year at Naval Base Vishakhapatnam. 560 cadets (400 boys +160 girls) from all Directorates attend the camp.
Rock Climbing Training Camps (RCTC)
Eight rock climbing camps are held each year to expose the cadets to the basics of elementary rock climbing and to inculcate spirit of adventure amongst cadets. Four of these camps are held at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and other four camps at Neyyardam near Trivandrum in Kerala.
National Integration Camps (NIC)
These camps are conducted on All India basis and help bridge the cultural gap among various States of India. In addition, There are five special NICs conduced at Leh, Nagrota (J&amp;K), Chakabama (NCR), Lakshadweep and Port Blair.
Thal Sainik Camp (TSC)
Two concurrent TSCs are conducted at RD Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt every year. i.e. S D / JD boys and SW / JW girls. 640 Boy and 640 Girls cadets take part in this camps.
Republic Day Camp (RDC)
NCC Republic Day Camp is the culmination of all NCC Training activities. RDC is held at Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt from 01 to 29 Jan. 2000 selected NCC Cadets from all States &amp; Union Territories attend the Camp. The Camp is inaugurated by the Vice President of India and culminates with Prime Minister's Rally on 27 Jan.
During the camp visit of Raksha Mantri, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Minister Delhi, three Service Chiefs and various State Ministers/VIPs are also organized.
During the RDC, various competitions are conducted amongst the 17 NCC Directorates to decide the Champion Directorate for award of Prime Minister's Banner. Competitions are keenly contested in various events such as National Integration Awareness, Drill, Line &amp; Flag Area, Cultural items, Best Cadet of Senior Division (Boys) and Senior Wing (Girls) in each Service - Army, Navy &amp; Air. Aero modeling and Ship modeling are also conducted during RDC.

<h2>SPORTS</h2>
Sports govern some of the fundamental principles of life. It can teach you about failure, joy, and disappointment, excitement, winning and losing, about maturity, teamwork, humility and selflessness.
"We don't claim to be the best, but we're damn hard to beat." &ndash;Is one of the famous quotes said by Adam Barnes and so we here at PDEU not only try to do our best at academics but in sports too.
We conduct numerous sports activities at PDEU to enhance and promote all round development of students by providing them with good facilities, organizing various events and fests within the college and also encouraging them for outdoor participation.
<h3 align="left">Chess</h3>
Chess is the oldest strategy game known to mankind. Created in the first century B.C this is a very popular game in which Indians are currently at the forefront. Two sides battle it out with all their wits to be proclaimed as the winner of what has been come to be known also as the &ldquo;intelligent person&rsquo;s&rdquo; game. The two aforementioned sides, white and black respectively fight what amounts to a simulated battle in the natural course of the game. One of the greatest plus points of chess that it is impossible to cheat in any way. The two sides each with 16 pieces play on an eight by eight 64 square black and white checked board. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent by attacking the opponent&rsquo;s king and leaving it no square to move onto without facing a direct attack.
<h3 align="left">Carom</h3>
Carom is one of the most renowned and loved Indian sport of all time. This game engages two to four people at a time and is a test of of a person&rsquo;s aim. It is all about the skill and accuracy of the shot that determines a person&rsquo;s worth on the carom board. This game has a widespread base of players from all over the country and is played with an almost standardised set of rules making this one of the most intense competitions out of them all.
<h3 align="left">Athletics&nbsp;</h3>
Athletics is the cornerstone of most sporting tournaments world-wide. It test all the physical attributes such as strength, speed, stamina, endurance and at a certain level, even determination. The athletics events are many and varied. They can be 100m, 200m or even 400m sprints or relays. They can have hurdles, gymnastics, long jumping, pole vaulting and many others. Perhaps the greatest embodiment of the very spirit of athletics is the marathon race. Invented by the Greeks after their win against Darius on the plains of marathon, they commemorated its re-enactment in the form of the marathon race &ndash; The ultimate expression of athleticism.
<h3 align="left">Volleyball</h3>
Volleyball is a six a side two team game. It is an intensely competitive sport. In simplistic terms, the objective of the game is two keep the ball from touching the ground on your side of the court and try to achieve the opposite by hitting the ball into your opponents side of the court. This sport is played primarily by the hands and requires great amounts of stamina and power.
<h3 align="left">Basketball&nbsp;</h3>
Basketball is the fourth most funded sport in the entire world after baseball, football and cricket. This five-a-side two teamed game is played on a court with a hoop in each end. The main objective is to get the ball to pass through the hoop on your opponent&rsquo;s side of the court. Basketball also requires a great deal of stamina but also powerful jumping ability. Coupled with the skilful dribbling and various other tricks, not only is this game enjoyable but exciting enough to keep one on the edge of their seats. The game really heats up when the slam dunking begins !
<h3 align="left">Football&nbsp;</h3>
Football is the most popular sport of our day and age. As an Indian living in a cricket crazy country it might be a tad bit difficult to visualize this but football has entire continents crazy about it especially Europe and South America. Football is a fast paced 90 minute eleven a side two teamed game. The objective is to kick the ball into the goal at the opponent&rsquo;s side of the field. Sounds simple? Well, each team has a goal-keeper who guards the goal and is the only player on the field allowed to touch the ball with their hands. Football fever is fast spreading over India as well with the coming world cup and any sporting tournament with this sport looks to be an exciting event on the whole.
<h3 align="left">Lawn Tennis</h3>
From the courts of Wimbledon to the local sports complex, lawn tennis is one of the most widely followed of sports. It can be either singles or doubles and requires the players to hit a ball over a net with the intent of making their opponent incapable of doing the same.
<h3 align="left">Table Tennis</h3>
Table tennis is a fast paced sport requiring extreme levels of concentration and skill. Though not very exhausting or physically exerting in any way, it is requires a great deal of practise to master this sport and play it at any competitive level.

<h2>AIESEC</h2>
AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for profit voluntary organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Founded in 1948 by 7 European students, after the end of World War II, AIESEC enables young people to develop leadership through cross-cultural exchanges.&nbsp;
Currently, the AIESEC network includes over 100,000 members in 126+ countries and territories. It is the largest youth-run organization in the world. Since its inception, AIESEC has contributed to the society by giving eminent leaders like Kofi Annan(Former UN Secretary General), Bill Clinton(Former US President), Neil Jannin(Director, McKinsey &amp; Company) etc.
AIESEC entities across the globe strive to achieve &ldquo;Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind&rsquo;s Potential&rdquo;. AIESEC operations include Incoming and Out-going Exchanges. Each year, AIESEC delivers 90,000+ leadership experiences to young individuals by designing projects aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.

<h2>AIESEC &amp; PDEU</h2>
PDEU&rsquo;s mission is to develop global professionals by providing international educational exchange to the university students and to create visibility of the university in the global educational scenario by collaborating with other reputed institutes and student exchange programs. Seeing the semblance in their vision, AIESEC in Ahmedabad and PDEU collaborated in 2012 to setup an extension at PDEU.
The PDEU extension of AIESEC in Ahmedabad operates in the following areas:

<h2>WORLD CIVILIZATION: ANCIENT EGYPT &amp; ITS ART</h2>
Ancient Egypt &amp; its Art On 20th &amp; 21st Feb, All the SLS students set their time machine to 3000 BC to explore the wonders of Ancient Egypt with Mrs. Asha Mandapa, Eminent artist &amp; Director, Institute of Design Expression Art &amp; Learning. The workshop was organized with objectives to make history education interesting, to understand the contribution of Ancient Egypt in field of Art, Architecture, Science, Technology etc, to understand art &amp; its characteristics. During two days of the workshop student learnt following:
 The only surviving wonder of the ancient world. &bull; The pyramids at Giza &bull; Saqara and Memphis &bull; Abu Simbel &bull; Karnak &bull; Valley of the Kings The Art, Culture, Fashion &amp; Treasures of the Ancient Egyptian and their relevance And usage in the modern World.
 The story of two great Queens On the second day, students created a replica of the Egyptian art to understand the meaning of its art, colour palette, form, meaning of hyroglyphics &amp; composition

<h2>TERRACOTTA WORKSHOP</h2>
School of Liberal Studies, PDEU had organized 4 days Terracotta Workshop for the students. the workshop aimed to develop understanding &amp; appriciation of folk art form - Terracotta and its cultural significance, developing visual and aesthetic sense, hands on experience of making terracotta art piece.
Shri Lakshmilal and his team members taught the art form. The artisans hails from Molela, Rajasthan - a region known for its terrocotta art. He is a National Awardee artist specialized in Terracotta Sculpture, Idols of Gods &amp; Goddesses, Panel, Wall Tiles and other Decorative Items. The specialty of Rajasthani terracotta art is they do not use molds. All the shapes and design they create with hands. During the workshop students designed wall murals and worked on potter's wheel &amp; furnace. There interactive session gave chance to the students to know about the life &amp; culture of local artisans.

<h2>PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP</h2>
In the age of digital photography, clicking is very easy task but students of SLS tried to explore photography as a serious art form with Mr. Ketan Modi, professional photographer and a head of the photography course at Navgujarat College. In two days workshop Students learnt:
 Introduction&nbsp;to photography | History of photography | Types of Photography |Principles of Photography | Light and Medium | S.L.R Camera System | Composition | Vision Development | Flash photography Dos &amp; Don&rsquo;ts
 On the second day, students visited Indroda Nature Park for outdoor shoot. They applied the fundamentals, they learnt on the first day and after the shoot, the resourse person analyse the photographs to improve their photography.
