<h2>SLS AT A GLANCE</h2>
Long before envisioning the benchmarks of global best practices to be recommended by NEP, PDEU launched School of Liberal Studies which currently offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees that equips a student to develop an array of intellectual skills, a variety of methodologies and ways of understanding our changing world, and a broad base of varied knowledge. In turn, such a Liberal Education establishes an invaluable foundation for more specialized study in one's major or in one of the professions, and for a life-long affinity for learning and continuing intellectual development.
The pedagogy with broad based understanding of all relevant disciplines ranging from Management, Arts, Commerce, Social Sciences and Sciences orients the student to have trans disciplinary breadth that helps to develop rigours understanding of the depth.

<li>To encourage creative thinking and ability to see things as a whole. Critical moments in life require ability to think out of the box to perceive a situation in to imaginatively find out solutions.</li>
<li>To serve as a catalyst for the desire of innovativeness in order to form disciplined yet creative habits of mind.</li>
<li>To encourage experience of pleasure while doing research in a field for which one has passion and to transfer this sense of freedom from the &lsquo;School to the Society&rsquo;.</li>
<li>To foster scholarly teaching - learning culture based on reflective and creative independence.</li>
<li>To participate with industry, government, other academic institutes and NGOs for creating new opportunities for internship programs.</li>
<li>To provide a comprehensive mix of academic programs and research projects to strengthen inter-disciplinary understanding.</li>

 Aim of Liberal Studies &bull; The aim of studying Liberal Studies is to produce self-motivated &amp; responsible citizens capable of taking on global challenges. &bull; Liberal Studies focus on student learning and not on teaching. &bull; Liberal Studies program provides an opportunity for every individual to explore, nurture and develop life skills. &bull; Liberal Studies program has historically produced the best leaders, thinkers, scientists, writers, poets and scholars. &bull; Liberal Studies program seeks and develops interests innate in an individual and fosters them to make them better human beings.

<li>We have created no institutions of repute post-Independence, focused on liberal education.</li>
<li>The term 'institutes of excellence' came to be associated with a new breed of colleges - the IITs, IIMs, AIIMS. But these aren't multi-disciplinary colleges.</li>
