Shri Uday Kotak is the Founder and Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank. He has played an important role in the growth of the Kotak Mahindra group over the past 38 years. Under his leadership, the Kotak Mahindra group has emerged as one of India&rsquo;s leading diversified and integrated financial services conglomerates, providing a range of financial solutions covering banking, asset management, alternate asset management, life and general insurance stock broking, investment banking, private banking, microfinance and asset reconstruction.
&nbsp;
He has always believed that the true measure of performance is sustainable value creation. This is also reflected in the Kotak Mahindra Bank&rsquo;s growth where an investment of ₹ 10,000 in 1985 would be worth around ₹ 300 crore today.

He has played an important role in defining and developing India&rsquo;s banking &amp; financial sector over three decades. Shri Kotak leads several key bodies and is currently Co-Chairman of the Indo-UK Financial Partnership (IUKFP) and Chairman of the Insolvency &amp; Bankruptcy Board of India&rsquo;s advisory committee on Corporate Insolvency and Liquidation. He was on the International Advisory Panel of Monetary Authority of Singapore until December 2023 and was President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from June 2020 until May 2021. Shri Kotak is on the International Advisory Board of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and from October 2018 to April 2022, also served as Non-Executive Chairman of a specially constituted board of IL&amp;FS (a state-funded non-banking financial company) by the Government of India to steer IL&amp;FS out of a deep crisis, which he served as his national duty. In 2017, a Committee on Corporate Governance constituted by SEBI under the leadership of Shri Kotak recommended sweeping changes towards more robust and transparent corporate governance.

Shri Kotak was recently honoured with the &lsquo;Lifetime Achievement Award&rsquo; by CNBC-TV18 at the India Business Leader Awards 2023. In the past he has been a recipient of the &lsquo;Ernst &amp; Young World Entrepreneur of the Year Award&rsquo; in 2014, &lsquo;Economic Times Business Leader of the Year Award&rsquo; in 2015, &lsquo;Businessman of the Year 2016&rsquo; by Business India, &lsquo;Lifetime Achievement Award&rsquo; at Financial Express&rsquo; Best Banks&rsquo; Awards 2016, &lsquo;USIBC Global Leadership Award&rsquo; at the 2018 India Ideas Summit organised by the U.S.-India Business Council, &lsquo;Life Time Achievement Award&rsquo; at Magna Awards 2019 by Businessworld, &lsquo;Best CEO in Banking Sector&rsquo; by the Business Today Best CEO Awards 2019 and &lsquo;India Business Leader of the Year&rsquo; by CNBC-TV18 at the India Business Leader Awards 2021.

Shri Kotak also has a vision for equitable prosperity that extends beyond financial services. The Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), a philanthropic trust founded by Mr. Kotak, works with some of India&rsquo;s most economically underprivileged communities, attempting to alleviate poverty through education and livelihood programmes.

Shri Kotak holds a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Commerce from Mumbai University and a Master&rsquo;s degree in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

<h2>GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS</h2>
<h3>Convocation Dress Code:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Convocation Dress will be in line with the UGC recommendation with reference to the Prime Minister&rsquo;s request to use handloom clothing on such occasions which is also followed at several IITs/NITs/NID.</li>
<li>Accordingly, the male graduating students will wear White or Off-White Kurta Pyjama and the female graduating students will wear White or Off-White Saari / Salvar Kamiz.</li>
<li>Stoles will be handed over to all graduating students at the time of registration (MAROON colour - for SoET &amp; SoT graduates, BLUE colour - for SoM graduates and GREEN colour - for SLS graduates).</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">General Instructions:</h3>
<ul>
<li>All students and their parents shall take their seats at the Convocation venue by 4:30 PM.</li>
<li>All of you are requested to maintain decorum and sanctity most befitting to the Convocation Program.</li>
<li>Arise from seating as a mark of respect to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries when convocation procession enters the venue.</li>
<li>Adequate cheering and clapping should be done while the students are receiving medals/ certificates.</li>
<li>Use of Mobile phones is to be avoided during the Surfing mobiles while dignitaries are addressing the gathering to be avoided.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Please do not come in front to take photograph during the program.</li>
<li>Please do not create any crowd either for hand shake or to get autograph of the honorable guests on campus.</li>
<li>Students are requested not to move out of their seats till end of the Convocation.</li>
<li>The dinner arrangement for faculty, staff, graduating students and parents is arranged in the Cricket Ground - behind Cafeteria, after the Convocation.</li>
<li>At the time of attendance registration, each student will be issued free dinner pass for the self and also their family accompanying upto three members.</li>
<li>On the Convocation day, all the Students, Faculty and Staff members are hereby informed that vehicle parking space at C Block will be not available.</li>
<li>Person with medical difficulty and children below 10 years are advised not to be the part of the program as the duration of the program would be of more than one hour.</li>
</ul>

<h2>REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS</h2>

<li>At the time of Registration, Convocation Stoles will be handed over to the students in the above referred class rooms.</li>
<li>All the merit medal students and Ph.D. awardees will assemble in E-Block Room no. E-002 &amp; E-003 at 4:00 PM, without fail. All other passout student attending convocation will reassemble in their respective classrooms at 4:15 PM and will move to Convocation ground under the supervision of faculty in-charge. Campus Tour/photo sessions should be completed before 4:15 PM.</li>
<li>No student will be allowed entry into convocation ground after 4:45 PM.</li>
<li>Post convocation, Stoles to be deposited in the respective classrooms. Any students who wants to retain the stoles as a souvenir, can do so, by paying Rs.200/-.</li>
<li>Each student will be issued free dinner pass for self and their family accompanying upto three members.</li>
